Air Intake Louvers
Permatron's PreVent® air intake filters provide the first line
of defense in
preventing debris from entering the
system. Airborne particles and debris are constantly drawn into the
air intakes and louvers of HVAC units, condensers and air cooled
chillers across the country. Cottonwood seeds, leaves,
pollen, paper debris, industrial waste, nesting birds, construction
debris and insects are continuously drawn into air intakes costing
thousands of dollars and man hours on equipment repair downtime and
maintenance. Debris insulates the coils, electronics and
other sensitive components, causing heat build-up, higher discharge
pressure and amp draws. Reduced air flow causes equipment to
run for longer cycle times, at reduced capacity, decreased life
expectancy, increased filter changes and escalating power
costs.

- University Intake Filters Make The Grade
The oldest and one of the top law schools in the United States is in the process of getting a major face lift. A portion of the major university renovation includes a new 250,000 square foot legal academic complex situated on top of a four story parking structure designed by architectural genius Robert A.M. Stern. School officials were concerned that the airborne dirt from the mass digging and construction work would be sucked into the building’s louvered air intakes that surround the outside of the building just below the windows. - Michigan State Capitol Ground Louvers
Michigan State Capitol, a historic landmark built in Lansing, Michigan in 1879, endured extensive historical restoration from 1987-1992. The building was returned to its original appearance, while being adapted for the future as a modern hub of governmental activities. Updating the heating, air conditioning, ventilation, lighting and electrical systems were a major part of the restoration process. Ground level air intake louvers are utilized to draw outside air into the heating and ventilating units, as well as to provide cooling to electrical systems that control the lighting used to illuminate the exterior of the building.
