Washable Air Filter for Fan Guard

Challenge – Cross Contamination at Food Processing Plant

Common dust challenges found in processing plants plagued a major snack food processing plant, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Raw agricultural products, like course grains ground into flour, moved to mixing machines and combined with spices and other baking additives can create a potential contamination hazard.  In addition, AIB inspections mandated Dust Collection & Filtering Devices be put in place to prevent possible contamination to food products from threads, lint and fibers.  Mobile and pedestal style air circulator fans commonly used in plants tend to pick up the particles, which then spread throughout the fan’s motor, blades and fan guards, and potentially be blown back out into the facility and onto finished food products.

Solution – PeVent® Bonnet Style Air Filter with Motor Cut-Out

Custom sized to fit securely on the backside of each circulator fan, the filter wraps around the motor encasement and is held securely in place with an elastic edge and hook/loop attachment.  The woven electrostatic polypropylene media attracts and holds the particles before they can enter the equipment, eliminating particle build-up and blow-off.  Easily removed, the filters are washed and reused.  Both the equipment and the food product stays clean.
