Imagine wearing a face mask in a very dusty area. The point of  wearing the mask is so you don’t breathe in harmful particles in the air around you.The longer you have the mask around your nose and mouth, the more restricting it becomes to breathe.

Now picture this with a disposable air filter. The purpose of an air filter is to help your air conditioning and furnace system run efficiently by blocking out dust from entering the unit. Most air filters are layers of stacked media. The way that they work is by blocking particles from entering the AC and furnace system. As a result, the air filters can face load and end up restricting air flow, which interferes with system efficiency. Forcing your system to use more energy keeps it running, in other words “breathe harder.” The advantage of using a Permatron Electrostatic Air Filter, unlike other air filter, is that it will help your system run smoothly!

Back in 1957, Permatron came up with a 3 Stage Filtration Design. The filters are constructed by using two electrostatic filter media panels, within a 1 inch outer frame. The inside panels are separated by air space, our exclusive Accumulator Chamber®. The way an electrostatic air filter works is, of course, a static electric charge inherent in the filter media and air flow. How it works is that air flows through the filter media to create a steady charge across the entire filter panel. The electrostatic air filter media attracts dust to the prefilter. When dust builds up, the air flow causes them to break off, into the Accumulator Chamber. Turbulence and static electric charge forces them to agglomerate, and become larger particles. Too big to pass through the afterfilter, particles remain in the Accumulator Chamber. The afterfilter traps extra particles that escape the prefilter. With regular cleaning, Permatron air filters promote minimal restriction of air flow, so your system can breathe.
