Air Intakes...A Source and A Solution For IAQ Major sources of poor indoor air quality can be contributed to inadequate ventilation inside and contamination from the air outside of a building. To provide good IAQ, you need to start with good air, and that means maximizing the use of outdoor air to dilute indoor contaminants via air intakes. Increasing ventilation by opening outdoor air supply dampers and room vents, plus keeping them clear of obstructions that may impede airflow is one of the best methods of ensuring good IAQ. The solution of diluting with outdoor air can also cause problems because you can’t control the environment around the air intakes. There will always be the constant battle of fending off unwanted substances from entering in the supply air, like particulate matter, odors, fumes, exhaust from other outlets, as well as, weather conditions like wind and rain. Permatron Corporation specializes in providing the right air filtration products for a given range of applications, including residential, industrial/institutional and OEM applications, that can be tailored for air screening, fan guards, equipment protection, and air intake equipment. Using a combination of charged particle attraction and impingement, Permatron air filters are permanent, washable and have the least cost over useful life. Layers of woven polypropylene fabric, with an inherent electrostatic charge that does not diminish over time, catch and hold particles much like iron filings are attracted to a magnet. When confronted with environmental moisture, the filters continue to maintain their impingement/screening capabilities, and are not impacted by weather conditions like disposable filters. Installation of Permatron filters require no system modifications or electrical hookups.
