A Proactive Approach to Equipment Maintenance with Air Filtration

Every piece of equipment, large or small, stationary or mobile, indoors or outdoors, needs preventative maintenance. Dirt, debris and grease are continually coating and insulating your equipment's coils,  condensers, electronic systems, motors, fins and other components that fall in the path of the equipment's air intake. Airflow obstructions or any kind are a costly expense. Even if foreign objects are not visible, the buildup of airborne dirt will impact the equipment's ability to work efficiently and require repeated maintenance for cleaning. Dirty equipment means efficiency decreases, heat build-ups, higher discharge pressure and increased amp draw. Forced to run for longer cycle times, at reduced capacity, the equipment eventually breaks down, life expectancy decreases and power costs escalate.

After equipment has been installed, many mechanical contractors find themselves rigging a filtration solution to protect the costly equipment.  This particular condenser unit had to be replaced at Primo Pizza & Pasta Restaurant because of the huge amount of flour dust and oil mist that is continually circulated throughout the air, coating the coils.  The unit has already failed due to excessive heat and dirty coils.  The condenser unit's location on top of a Norlake  KoldLocker walk-in cooler, makes it hard to clean the coils regularly.  Self rinsing coil cleaner is supposed to be used, but there is no place for the cleaner to run off, except down to the counters,  and possibly on to the food preparation areas.

The original filtration fix, done by James Mechanical Company,  consisted of a 1" tacified nonwoven polyester pad, which had to be duct taped to the front of the fins.  This filter pad has to be changed at least once a month.  The blue pad shown below  had just been replaced, and after only a day, it was coated and filthy.

Permatron's Patented Equipment Protection filters are permanent/washable woven synthetic fabric media, which draws in and traps airborne particulates. The 3-dimensional electrostatic media, enhanced by airflow, needs no electrical connection or system modification. Engineered with a specific application in mind or various cut-to-fit applications, the Equipment Protection air filter can be affixed to the outer perimeter of the air intake by a unique,  magnetic or hook/loop attachment.  Grommets can also be added.  Equipment protection air filters can also be constructed with steel frames in various thickness that slide into a holding channel.  Built with durability in mind, the Equipment Protection filters will stand up to hostile environments including corrosive areas, UV exposure and fluctuating weather conditions. Customized protection needs are available using wire cloth, perforated metal, netting, woven and non-woven media, odor/fume adsorbing media, flexible or steel edged screens.

In a tight economy, the need to differentiate your product from the competition is a top priority. Precision engineering, top quality parts and manufacturing are all key elements to the success of your product. Well-maintained equipment costs less to operate, ensures optimal life expectancy and energy efficiencies. Ensuring that your equipment delivers consistent high-level performance alleviates the need for unnecessary service calls and warranty claims. Top equipment performance and outstanding buyer protection are the reason your equipment will be the number one choice.
